About

Hi there! Meet Sara.

Sara is an interactive designer and biomedical visualizer who graduated with an MS in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She focuses on serious game creation and virtual reality development with an emphasis on game design, asset creation, game mechanics, and educational outcome. Sara is enthusiastic about strengthening education and feels that interactive media can help accomplish this. Her goal is to create interactive learning experiences that engage viewers, encourage an interest into scientific topics, and educate learners. Her interests especially lie in educating those of the healthcare profession by use of virtual reality platforms. Sara believes that healthcare workers can become more proficient with the use of virtual reality, thus in turn increasing the quality of patient care.

She is also interested in project management, as she has led several unique interactive projects during her graduate career. Sara believes in open and honest communication with team members and really enjoys creating an organized schedule to maintain production pipelines. Her goals are to provide an encouraging setting to team members while collaborating with many different and talented individuals.

Sara holds a BFA in Illustration and, prior to her graduate career, has worked aptly in graphic design and art instruction. She has previously worked with design teams for advertisements and has utilized her illustration skills for product designs and more. Her diverse, creative background enables her to be a strong visual communicator to a multitude of audiences. She understands that creating any visual always begins with basic design principles. She strives to use her skills to create visually pleasing pieces for the scientific community. Most of all, Sara is excited to be a part of the biomedical visualization field where she can continue to pursue her love of art and blend it with science.

When she is not creating art for scientific colleagues, she is drawing cartoons in ink or painting way too many still lives of random objects. She loves reading a good fantasy novel, and you can usually find her pet cat curled in her lap any time of the day.
